CLAY COUNTY — A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Lineville man on Saturday, Dec. 17, at approximately 11:35 a.m.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), James L. Simpkins, 68, was fatally injured when the 2003 Lincoln Town Car he was driving collided head-on with the 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Forrest B. Weaver, 61, of Centre.
Simpkins was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred on Alabama 9 near the 199-mile marker, approximately eight miles north of Lineville city limits, in Clay County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
