$31,108 of grant money awarded to Trussville City Schools teachers

TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City Schools Foundation (TCSF) presented grants to the schools in the TCS school zone. Twenty-four Motivational Unique Strategic Helpful (MUSH) Grants were awarded for a total giving of $31,108 back to Trussville City Schools.

Teachers proposed different projects in the area that would allow students an opportunity to grow and learn in the classrooms.

The purpose of the MUSH grant program is to jump-start innovative teaching ideas throughout the Trussville City School System. This competitive grant program directly supports student learning and classroom enrichment and gives TCS teachers the resources to be innovative in “thinking outside the box.”

This year TCSF awarded many wellness grants for Yoga in the Classroom to Missy Lynam at HTHS, for sensory and calming rooms at Magnolia Elementary, Cahaba Elementary, Hewitt-Trussville Middle School, and Hewitt-Trussville High School. The need for creating spaces to be calm will help reduce stress and create a better learning environment.

TCSF also awarded phase two grants to a couple of teachers at Cahaba Elementary to complete their idea from last year, Engineering Genius Phase II to April Smith and Makerspace Project and Partners to Porshia Franklin.

The Trussville City Schools Foundation would like to thank the Trussville businesses that sponsor our events, families, and TCS employees that have Joined the Pack and attended our fundraising events.

“This MUSH grant program has grown into a competitive grant program that will benefit our students,” Leslie Armstrong, TCSF Executive Director, stated. “The teachers that are awarded the grant money work hard to complete their projects for these students. We are truly blessed in Trussville to have teachers willing to go the extra mile for our students and administrators in each of the schools to support them in the process!”

The Trussville City Schools Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to provide financial assistance to Cahaba Elementary School, Magnolia Elementary School, Paine Elementary School, Hewitt-Trussville Middle School, and Hewitt-Trussville High School.
