JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 52-year-old man was found dead in a wrecked vehicle on Shady Grove Road in Jefferson County on Sunday, Dec. 4, just after 8:30 a.m.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Eddie James Fair Jr., 52, of Birmingham, was the driver and lone occupant of a Honda Accord involved in a single-vehicle wreck.
A passing motorist notified the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office of a vehicle that was off the roadway on Shady Grove Road, just north of Porter Road near Maytown.
“Deputies arrived to find the vehicle that had left the roadway, flipped on its side, and struck a tree,” Lieutenant Joni Money stated. “The driver of the vehicle was deceased. The driver is currently unidentified. It is uncertain as to when the accident actually occurred.”
Detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, and the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will attempt to determine the victim’s identity.
