BIRMINGHAM — An arrest was made in connection to a fire at Temple Beth-El on Friday, Nov. 4, around 5:50 a.m.
According to the Birmingham Police Department (BPD), Gregory Earl Fuller Jr., 45, of Birmingham, was arrested and charged with arson second degree and has a bond of $30,000.
“The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to a fire on the property of Temple Beth-El located at 2179 Highland Avenue, Birmingham, AL 35205,” Sergeant Monica Law stated.
Fuller is currently held at the Jefferson County Jail.

BPD South Precinct officers responded to Temple Beth-El on a report of a fire call.
“Officers, along with Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel (BFRS), responded to the location,” Law stated. “Officers observed a propane tank and clothing which had been set on fire in the area; however, there was no damage to the synagogue.”
On Friday, Nov. 4, at 12:15 p.m., Fuller was taken into custody by FBI agents and transported to their Birmingham Headquarters, where FBI agents and BPD detectives interviewed him.
