CENTER POINT — Alabama Goodwill Industries (AGI) plans to open a third store in the Center Point area. The new store, located at 2310 Center Point Parkway in the old Badcock building next to Dollar Tree, will employ 25 Center Point residents and will have 12,000 square feet of retail space as well as a 6,500 square foot production area.
“This is a milestone moment for our mission, and we’re grateful for the community support that got us here,” President and CEO David Wells said.
For decades, the organization’s building off Green Springs Highway has been the sole Goodwill store in the metro area.
“We are eager to meet the needs of our neighbors and help more individuals than ever overcome their barriers to employment,” Wells said. “In addition to expanded programs and services, we are aiming to create 500 new jobs in the next few years. This store’s opening is a crucial step in making that goal a reality.”
The opening of the new location has created 25 jobs for Alabamians overcoming various challenges. Directly supported by the revenue generated from the sales of donated goods, these jobs help community members enter or re-enter the workforce and find self-sufficiency through the power of work. With an array of wraparound services, AGI’s mission is to equip its team members to build careers and life change through the power of work.
The group will have a one-day Grand Opening event on Nov. 15, followed by prizes during the opening weekend, and welcomes the public to participate in the excitement. Tuesday’s opening will feature a ribbon cutting at 8:45 a.m., followed by discounts and giveaways for donors and shoppers. To see more details, visit https://www.alabamagoodwill.org/locations
