JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of the Carson Road hit and run incident that occurred on Tuesday, September 6, shortly before 2 a.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Mario Danilo Espinal, 50, of Birmingham, was a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle that left the scene after the incident.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Carson Road near 16th Terrace Circle NW in Center Point to investigate the report of a body in the roadway.
Espinal was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the death.
