BESSEMER — An inmate at William Donaldson Correctional Facility serving a life sentence for murder from a 1999 conviction out of Autauga County died on Tuesday, August 16, at approximately 6:09 a.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Anthony J. Gay was found unresponsive in an open dormitory by other inmates.
“An autopsy performed on August 16, 2022, found no evidence of trauma or foul play related to death,” Chief Deputy Coroner William Yates said.
The circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the Alabama Department of Correction – Law Enforcement Services Division.
