TRUSSVILLE —The Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club selected Hewitt-Trussville High School and Restoration Academy students to attend the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) conference in February at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville.
RYLA is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where leadership skills are developed while having fun and making connections.
The group of eight students sponsored by the Rotary Daybreak Club attended a recent club meeting to share their experiences from the conference. According to the students, they learned perseverance and hard work helps in your career as well as in building friendships. In addition, the students said it was nice to hear from professionals in their fields and to get different perspectives from their own.
They also learned the Rotary 4-way test: “Of the things we think, say, and do: is it the truth, is it fair to all concerned, will it build goodwill and better friendships, and will it be beneficial to all concerned?”
The Club meets at First Baptist Church Trussville at 7 a.m. on Wednesday mornings. For more information on the Trussville Rotary Club Daybreak or to help with one of their projects, please find them on Facebook (Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club) or email Diane Poole at dianepoole1225@centurytel.net.
