VESTAVIA HILLS – A road rage incident where police say shots were fired into a vehicle in Vestavia Hills on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at approximately 7:45 pm, has landed a Birmingham man in jail.
Vestavia Hills Police Officers responded to a road rage incident in the area of Highway 31 and Massey Road, officials said in a statement. Upon further investigation, officers determined that gunshots had been fired into a vehicle during the incident. There were no reported injuries to anyone involved.
Due to Flock Safety camera systems the Vestavia Hills Police Patrol Division and Detective Division were able to identify the suspect vehicle and the suspect within 3 hours of the initial call, officers said. That suspect was later taken into custody without incident.
Vestavia Hills Police Detectives obtained warrants on Friday, November 12, 2021 through the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for Joseph Hunt, 26, of Birmingham.
Hunt was charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and two counts of reckless endangerment. He was transferred to the Jefferson County Jail where he is being held on a $40,000 bond.
