ARGO – Argo City Councilor Michael Bricks announced at the regular Argo council meeting on Monday, Oct. 25, that the city’s Trunk or Treat event will take place at Argo Hardware on Oct. 31, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
“Come on out,” Hicks said. “The police and the fire department will be handing out that candy.”

Mayor Betty Bradley called on Michelle Coalson to give an update on the annual Christmas for Kids gift program.
According to Coalson, the program is “for the citizens of Argo, for those who are in need and have kids that are school-aged children, usually 15 and under.”
She also said she will accept applications for 16–18-year-olds if there are special circumstances, such as special needs children.
“We spend up to $200 per kid,” Coalson said. “They have to send in their application … showing their need for it and that they are a resident and the child’s information. Then they send us the information like what the kid wants, their sizes and stuff.”
Coalson said that this is her fourth year running the program. On the day of the Christmas parade, Dec. 11, the families can either pick up their gifts at the municipal complex or Coalson will deliver them after the parade.
Applications will be available at city hall, Dollar General, Argo Hardware, Buckeye Grocery and Hilltop Farms. The deadline to submit applications is Dec. 3.

“The best way for people to help is, on the days that I’m going to be going shopping – and I’m going to be free several days a week – meet me to go shopping,” Coalson said. “Help me – I’m hoping that the police are going to help me – when it comes time on the day of delivery.”
Councilor Ann Brown announced that Springville’s rotary club will have a special donation to the city of Argo at the next council meeting.
“The Springville Area Rotary Club is going to be donating to the city of Argo the Book Nook at the council meeting on Nov. 8,” Brown said. “We would just like to invite everyone to come to that meeting and be present when they make that presentation. We’re real excited to get that as an addition to our park.”
The Book Nook will be a “Little Free Library” available for visitors at the municipal park to “take a book” or “leave a book.”
The next meeting of the Argo City Council will be Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at the Argo Municipal Complex. The regular meeting will begin at 6 p.m., following a 5 p.m. work session.
