BLOUNT COUNTY — A two vehicle crash near Hayden has claimed the life of a Cullman man.
Franklin Strickland, 58, died of injuries sustained in two-vehicle accident on I-65 that occurred Friday night, August 20, 2021 at approximately 8 p.m., according to Alabama State Trooper Corporal Jeremy Burkett.
Strickland had stopped in roadway because of a previous crash, when his 2014 Ford Fiesta was struck from behind by a 2010 Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The Silverado was driven by Roland Giesbresht of Macon, Mississippi. Helen Giesbresht was a passenger in the Silverado, and she was also injured and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
It is currently unclear how the Giesbreshts are related.
Strickland was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred approximately one mile north of Hayden near the 285 mile marker on I-65.
