TRUSSVILLE — Trussville’s Cahaba Headwater Cleanup group organized an Earth Day event to remove trash that would have eventually ended up in the Cahaba.
The group of 40 volunteers, including members of the Boy Scouts and the Cahaba River Society, joined in for the Dry Creek cleanup event. Bags of garbage were collected during the effort.
Organizers said Dry Creek is a spring-fed creek that has been littered by interstate runoff and trash from surrounding development. The creek was dry enough for the volunteers to access much of the trash.
