TRUSSVILLE — A new bakery is now open in Trussville, serving up bread, rolls, bagel and sweets. Cahaba Breads & Bagels is located at 6993 Gadsden Highway, Trussville.
Owner Lee Norwood has been in business since 2016. He has been taking part in the farmer’s market for years but is now operating out of his bakery in town.
“It’s an old-fashioned bakery,” said Norwood. “I am pulling the bagels out at 9 o’clock in the morning. I need to get a sign that says hot and fresh!”
Norwood and his wife, Renee, live in Trussville, where they raised their two sons. He works early in the morning and late at night to bring fresh products into the store.
“We use whole-wheat products and organic flour,” Norwood added.
The baked goods are made with no artificial preservatives and are sweetened slightly with honey. The bakery is closed on Mondays and Thursdays so that Norwood can continue teaching martial arts, which he has done since 1990. The bakery is also closed on Sunday because the Norwoods are active members of Faith Community Fellowship in Trussville. On all other days, the baker is open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Norwood suggests pre-orders but has retail ready-to-go in store. You can call Cahaba Breads & Bagels at (205) 508-3089.
