TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City Council approved a revised version of an agreement with Trussville City Schools concerning the use of properties between the two entities.
During its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, the council unanimously approved the Reciprocal Use Agreement with TCS. In the agreement, the City and TCS agree to “memorialize their longstanding informal reciprocal use agreement in writing to facilitate better understanding of each party’s role in the continued relationship between the parties and to organize, to promote, and to conduct programs and activities that further the education, health and general welfare of the community.”
The agreement states that schools have priority use of school facilities and the city has priority use of city facilities. The city can request usage of school facilities and TCS can request usage of city facilities.
The agreement states that “all facilities shall continue to be used for its originally intended purpose and the use shall be according to any applicable rules, policies, or procedures of the Facility. The facilities shall not be altered or materially repurposed from its originally intended use. This does not preclude the use or placement of any movable or temporary objects provided these objects do not cause damage to the facilities.”
The agreement can be read in full below.
During the meeting, Trussville Fire and Rescue’s Matt Panepento was recognized for a promotion he received in December of 2020. Chief Tim Shotts pinned Panepento, saying he is involved in many aspects of the fire department. He was promoted from a firefighter/paramedic to Lieutenant.
In other business, the council voted to approve the city’s Storm Water Management Program Plan, in order to stay in compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System through the EPA. The city has to approve the plan each year. No changes were made this year. More on the Storm Water Management Program in Trussville can be viewed by clicking here.
The Trussville Police Department has declared three Ford Crown Victoria vehicles as surplus. During the council workshop on Feb. 4, Councilor Perry Cook asked if it was possible to donate the vehicles to the Fultondale Police Department. Trussville Police Chief Eric Rush said he would ask the Fultondale Police Chief if there was a need.
The council also unanimously approved an agreement continuing services with the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. The GBHS handles animal control as a vendor for the city.
