BIRMINGHAM — Much of central Alabama will see freezing or close to freezing temperatures overnight.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued a Freeze Warning for the following counties: Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Lamar, Marion, Winston, Walker, Blount, Etowah, Fayette, Jefferson, Shelby, Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Coosa, St. Clair, Tallapoosa and Chambers.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28-degrees are expected in these areas.
The warning is in effect from midnight until 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020.
Frost and freeze conditions can kill crops and sensitive vegetation and could damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Experts recommend covering plants and allowing water to drip slowly overnight.
Some counties south of this region are under a Frost Advisory.
