Barbara Speed Dawson passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2020.
Barbara was born on Feb. 24, 1930, in Birmingham, Alabama. She is predeceased by her parents, Dutch and Myrtle Speed, sister, Mary Speed Seale, and brother, Albert Speed.
Still here to honor her memory is her loving husband of almost 68 years, Albert Eugene Dawson of Birmingham, Alabama, her daughter, Pat Turnipseed (Dwight), son, Al Dawson (Robin); four grandchildren, Nick Dawson (Kristen), Lacy Renda (Chris), Lori Crumley (Jamie), Clint Dawson; and seven great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Isabella, Haley, Emma, Ty, Mason and Anna Joy.
Her greatest joy was her great-grandchildren and she enjoyed supporting them in the activities they were involved in. Barbara graduated from Woodlawn High School. She was a member of North Park Baptist Church.
Visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Burial took place in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Serving You Ministries (6523 1st Avenue North, Birmingham, Alabama, 35206; www.servingyou.org) in her name.
