MOODY — The Moody Police Department made an arrest after Flock Safety cameras alerted them to a stolen tag.
After receiving an alert on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, an officer located a white van at the Love’s Travel Stop, on Kelly Creek Road. The tag on the van had been stolen from a Ford Explorer parked at the Ruby Tuesday in Tuscaloosa. When the officer asked the driver, Reginald Jones, about the tag, Jones told him he got the tag from his porch and placed it on the van so that he wouldn’t get pulled over, according to the police report.
During a search of the vehicle, the officer found a pipe and a baggy full of a white, crystallized substance.
“Jones stated that he bought the baggy believing that it was methamphetamine,” the police report said. “He stated he then tried to smoke it and he realized that it was Epsom salt.”
Jones, 29, of Tupelo, Miss., was taken into custody and charged with receiving stolen property – fourth degree and imitation drugs.
