CLAY — During the coronavirus outbreak, many organizations are forced to cancel events. But for some who able, thinking “outside the box” means there is hardly any change.
Boy Scout Troop 124, of Clay, participated in a virtual campout. Scouts set up their own camps in their yards and used social media, GroupMe and Zoom throughout the day to stay connected.
There was even a Zoom campfire meeting.
Organizers said the campout was a huge success and there could be another virtual campout planned in the future. Some of the Boy Scouts said going virtual made it feel like nothing had changed. In fact, some family members of scouts, who are usually unable to attend events, were able to take part in the campout.
