TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville Police Department is reminding residents about the city’s curfew ordinance. Due to the coronavirus, schools are no longer in session, and the ordinance applies to any person under the age of 18.
The ordinance has been in effect for over 10 years, according to Trussville Police Chief Eric Rush.
“Sixteen and 17-year-olds may not be in a public place or on the premises of an establishment from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday and from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.”
Rush said those under the age of 16-years-old may not be in public or on the premises of an establishment between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., on all days of the week.
“The offending juvenile’s parents or guardians are responsible for the curfew violations and can be cited,” said Rush. “We will be looking more closely for violations.”
City leaders are asking parents to be more mindful of the restrictions. If a child must be out after hours, a parent or adult guardian should be with them.
The full ordinance can be read below.
