TRUSSVILLE — Customers with Alabama Power are experiencing power outages after storms made their way through the state on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020.
Alabama Power reports that 178,000 customers have had their power restored. Roughly 24,000 customers are still without power across the coverage area.
County-by-county outage breakdown as of 10 p.m.:
3,800 – Calhoun
3,600 – Cleburne
3,200 – St. Clair
2,800 – Jefferson
1,800 – Randolph
1,500 – Talladega
1,300 – Etowah
1,200 – Tuscaloosa
1,100 – Shelby
Alabama Power said 95% of customers should have service back on by Monday night, although it could be until Tuesday before they can restore power to customers in Calhoun, Cleburne and Randolph Counties.

Alabama Power says if you see any lines down, don’t touch anything. Don’t try to walk or drive across the wires. Call (800) 888-2726.
The storm system produced widespread, straight-line wind damage and at least two tornadoes with debris signatures were observed by the National Weather Service in Birmingham. One tornado was in Pickens County, where three people died, and one was in Barbour County.
Teams with the National Weather Service will survey areas for further information.
