BIRMINGHAM — All appointments at the Birmingham VA Medical Center and the Birmingham VA Clinic were canceled Thursday, as a precaution.
The hospital went on lockdown as a precaution, after receiving information that Cornett Demetric Evans, 46, a person of interest in a shooting in Huntsville, could be headed to the clinic.
Police are searching for a tan-colored 2017 Jeep Patriot with Alabama tag YAN254. According to Huntsville Police, Evans may be armed and he has made threats to harm himself, so if you see the vehicle, you are asked to call 911.
The VA said it would release more information about when appointments will resume.
