BIRMINGHAM — As the Birmingham Police Department continues to investigate the shooting death of a teen in the city’s west precinct, they are pleading to the public to come forward with information.
James Looney, 16, of Birmingham was shot on Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, according to police. Officers responded to the scene at Sixth Street and St. Charles Avenue SW, around 3 a.m.
The victim was found on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue. A female victim (juvenile) was also shot and was taken to Children’s of Alabama with life-threatening injuries. The female is still listed in serious condition in the hospital.
Detectives said there are still no suspects in custody. They are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers anonymously. The number is (205) 254-7777.
