ELMORE, Ala. — The Alabama Department of Corrections is investigating the death of a second inmate within a week.
Robert Green, 51, of Pinson, was serving time at the Elmore Correctional Facility. On Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, correctional officers found Green with a head injury and took him to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at 2:45 a.m.
According to a press release, Green was serving a 20-year sentence for sexual abuse and sodomy out of Jefferson County.

Law enforcement agents with the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) Investigation and Intelligence Division are investigating the manner of death. More information will be made public after autopsy results are complete.
ADOC also said Ricky Gilliand, 46, of Vinemont, died at William C. Holman Correctional Facility on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019.
