BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a shooting death in the city’s west precinct.
Police were alerted by Shot Spotter to a location in the 1300 block of Avenue V around 3:55 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23. Responding officers found a female subject in the rear of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded and took the victim to UAB Hospital where she died. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 37-year-old Tiyesha Carson, of Birmingham.
No one is in custody in connection to the homicide.
