CENTER POINT — Firefighters with the Center Point Fire District made a special delivery early Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019. That special delivery was a 7-pound, 3-ounce baby girl named Karoline Nila Beard.
Proud father Jonathan Beard posted his thoughts on Facebook:
“Karoline Nila Beard will always have a story to tell about her birth. At 2:38, she was born at Center Point Fire Department. We couldn’t make it any further. Mom and baby are doing great. 7lbs 3oz and 20.5 inches long.
Special Thanks to Todd Wilson, Josh Martin, Christian Collins, and Kyle McKinney of CPFD.”
The family gave Center Point Fire District permission to discuss the blessed event. Battalion Chief Brad Appleton filled in the details.
“The family was traveling southbound on 79 from their home in Cleveland,” said Appleton. “They were going to a hospital in downtown Birmingham. The baby wasn’t ready to wait, (the baby) was ready to enter this world so they called 911 and he advised 911 that he would be pulling into a fire station. That station ended up being Station Number 2 on Pinson Valley Parkway.”
The family was assisted by members of Engine 2 and Rescue 12 in delivering the baby.
“The baby and the mom were taken to the hospital of their choice in Birmingham,” said Appleton. “And they are doing well.”
