TRUSSVILLE — Miss Trussville’s Outstanding Teen is ready to take the crown to the next level. Laura Grace Henry was crowned on Sunday, July 14.
Henry, who is from Prattville, is excited to represent the city of Trussville.
“This organization has just been such a blessing in my life,” said Henry. “We’re so thankful for preliminaries like Miss Trussville.”
This will be Henry’s fifth year going to compete in Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen.
The 16-year-old beauty is a student in the University of Texas’ online high school program. She is excited to earn scholarship money through the Miss America Organization and she hopes to encourage more girls in the Trussville area to get involved in order to realize the benefits the organization has to offer.
“This organization focuses so much on community service and being involved in your community and with your friends, so for me it’s about being a positive role model,” she said.
Henry’s talent is piano. For the Miss Trussville pageant, she played “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
Her platform is “Hiding in Plain Sight: Teens Against Dating Violence and Dating Violence Prevention.”
“It’s so important that we educate teens and parents about teen dating violence because, unfortunately, this is a growing epidemic in our country,” said Henry. “One in three teens will be in an abusive relationship, so I’m so blessed to be in a position to go out and educate the public.”
Henry said she was a part of the Rising Star Program as a child and always knew she wanted to continue her journey with Miss Alabama by competing for Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen title. She will take the state stage in March 2020.
