CLAY — Clay-Chalkville High School has a new head baseball coach, Landon Robinson, and his goal for the upcoming season is to win the area.
Robinson has been with the Clay-Chalkville baseball program for three years. His first two years were as the head coach of the junior varsity team and last year he was a varsity assistant.
Robinson brings significant experience to his new position.

“I have been teaching/coaching for five years,” said Robinson. “I have coached baseball for all five years. I was previously at Hueytown High School, where I coached under Coach Patterson for one year. I also spent one year at Mcadory Middle School. I have coached girls’ basketball all three years I have been at Clay-Chalkville. I spent one year as the middle school head coach and the last two years as the JV coach and varsity assistant.”
Landon wasted no time in picking the prize that the Clay-Chalkville team will be going after his first season as head coach.
“Our goal for baseball next year will be the same as it has been; win the area,” said Robinson. “This past year we fell short and missed the playoffs. I want coaches and players to remember the feeling we had at the end of last year and let that motivate us to work hard every day to reach our goal.”
Landon’s enthusiasm is palpable and bodes well for Clay-Chalkville baseball chances this upcoming season.
“I am extremely excited and cannot wait to get back to work with our guys,” said Robinson. “The upcoming seniors were freshman on my first JV team. They have been with me all four years, so this team is already a special one for me.”
