From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
The Hewitt Mountain Bike Team completed its fifth season on May 5, 2019, taking home the State Championship trophy. The final race of the season was held at Tannehill State Park, where over 500 riders raced through the woods on single track and up the steep climb known as “The Hill.”
The day was a success for the Huskies as they won today’s race, “The Feud at the Furnace,” and also the state series.
The Hewitt Mountain Bike team has 50 student-athletes this year: 25 high school and 25 middle school. They swept the entire series for Division 1, winning all of their races throughout the 2019 spring season. Many riders showcased their ability to meet the demands of mountain bike racing.
