MARGARET — The Margaret Lions Club will be accepting non-perishable food items for Backpack Buddies, which is associated with Margaret Elementary School. Members of the Margaret Lions Club will be manning a table by the front door at the Margaret Dollar General on April 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The local Backpack Buddies program is centered around North Valley Church in Margaret/Odenville, Alabama. They have a food pantry that is used as the collection and distribution point for food distributed to Margaret Elementary School. The Margaret Lions Club holds food drives and encourages others to donate to the food pantry for Backpack Buddies at Margaret Elementary School.
The following is a partial list of items the Margaret Lions Club is hoping to receive for Backpack Buddies:
- Pop-top/Pull-top canned chicken noodle or vegetable soup.
- Pull-top Vienna sausages
- Individual packs of pull-top fruit cups
- Yoohoo chocolate drinks
- Peanut butter and cracker packs
- Microwaveable mac & cheese
- Small box of raisins (pack of six)
- Little Debbie snack cakes
- Ramen noodles
- Individual packs of instant oatmeal (any flavor)
- Individual packs of Ritz crackers
- Pretzel sticks and cheese dip packs
- Pop Tarts
- Individual grits packages
- Cereal bars/granola bars
- Microwaveable popcorn
- Pull-top/pop-top canned pasta of any kind (Chef Boyardee)
- Pull-top beanie weenies
