BIRMINGHAM – Authorities have identified shooting victims from two separate events that occurred in Birmingham on Sunday morning. In each event, the victim died.

Birmingham Police reported that at around 6:59 a.m., officers from the West Precinct responded to 1020 Tuscaloosa Ave. after receiving a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found the victim inside of a vehicle unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue along with the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office pronounced the victim dead as a result of her injuries.
BPD identified the victim as Octavia Dortch, a 45-year-old black female, of Birmingham.
A separate incident occurred at around 8:36 a.m. According to law enforcement, officers arrived at 2110 Montevallo Road SW and found the victim on the ground unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was later pronounced dead when the Birmingham Fire and Rescure and the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office arrived on scene.
BPD identified the victim as Gregory Snodgress, a 28-year-old black male, of Birmingham.
No suspect(s) are in custody.
