BIRMINGHAM — Two people are dead after four individuals were struck by gunfire in a Friday night shooting in East Birmingham, Rodarius Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said.
Police detectives are conducting a homicide investigation into the incident which occurred on Friday at approximately 10:49 p.m.
“Officers from the East Precinct responded to 1121 Carnation Drive on a report of multiple people shot at the location,” Mauldin said. “Officers arrived and located the first victim, unresponsive on the floor inside of the residence, suffering from a gunshot wound.”
Mauldin said Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
Officers also found another person inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound. That person was treated on the scene and transported to UAB Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The other victim was treated for his injuries and released.”
Investigators learned that an altercation ensued during a party that was held at the residence, which resulted in multiple shots being fired, according to Mauldin. Investigators have one person in custody.
