BIRMINGHAM –Tuesday was a busy day for Birmingham police after one man was stabbed downtown and another man was shot in a separate incident in Gate City on Tuesday.
Police were called to Kelly Ingram Park about at 1 p.m. after a man was reported stabbed. According to Carol Robinson, the man was stabbed elsewhere downtown and made his way to the park where he asked someone to call for help. He was alert when he was transported to the hospital by first responders.
Robinson said witnesses reported that the victim had been stabbed in the chest.
At about 2 p.m., police responded to a shootout in the 7500 block of Georgia Road in Gate City. Police told Robinson that two men began shooting at each other in the street, littering the area with a dozen shell casings. The incident left one person wounded and the other suspect remains at large. The wounded man was transported to the hospital.
