BIRMINGHAM – Birmingham Police detectives are conducting a shooting investigation that occurred on Sunday evening, September 2 at WorkPlay where several teenagers were shot during an altercation after a teen party. Police now believe there were seven victims among those injured.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to the incident, located at 2300 5th Avenue South, on a report of shots fired. Officers arrived to find multiple shots fired in the area and and a total of seven sustained gunshot injuries, one 20-year-old sustained a knee injury.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded and transported the victims to various nearby hospitals. All victims are expected to recover from their injuries.
One of the injured persons was taken into custody after he was treated and will be held as a suspect in this shooting. Additional suspect information will be released pending formal charges.
This case is still under investigation and updates will be released as the case progresses.
