TRUSSVILLE – The Trussville City Schools announced Tuesday, July 24, Dr. Cheryl Guilbeau as the new Program Service Supervisor for Special Education.
Guilbeau comes to Trussville from Escambia County, (Pensacola) Florida where she has served as the Special Education Administrator and Subject Area Specialist since August of 2012.
Guilbeau holds a Doctorate from Vanderbilt University in Administrative/Educational Leadership, a Master’s Degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Special Education, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary English from Louisiana State University.
Educational positions held by Guilbeau include English and Special Education teacher for Grissom High School in Huntsville, AL; Central High School in Baton Rouge, LA; Northwestern Middle School in Zachary, LA; and Trafton Academy in Baton Rouge, LA.
In addition to Guilbeau’s public education experience, she worked for NASA Stennis Space Center as an Education Projects Coordinator for Erica Lane Enterprises, and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center as an Education Specialist. During her time with NASA, Guilbeau worked with Hewitt-Trussville High School students in the High Schools United to Create Hardware (HUNCH) project.
“Dr. Guilbeau brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in special education, and she is already familiar with Trussville City Schools because of her work in our high school program with the NASA project a few years ago,” said Superintendent Dr. Pattie Neill. “She has worked extensively for the past six years in developing programs for all disability categories and Special Olympics in Escambia County, FL. I look forward to working with Dr. Guilbeau in TCS.”
“I am excited to start this journey with Trussville City Schools, and look forward to working with students, families, and staff,” said Guilbeau. “My goal is to ensure that students gain learning experiences in order to reach their highest potential and future success.”
Guilbeau’s first day with Trussville City Schools will be August 15, 2018.
