PALMERDALE — A 27-year-old Palmerdale man has been arrested for domestic violence by strangulation.
On May 15, 2018 an adult female victim came to the Sheriff’s Office to report domestic violence. The victim reported that she had met 27-year-old James William Parsons on social media and had begun a relationship with him, the JeffCo Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. She eventually moved in with him at his residence in March of this year.
The victim reported that he would often become angry and on April 1, he choked her to the point that she could not breathe.
On May 15, the victim moved out of the residence.
This case was forwarded to the Sheriff’s Office Domestic Violence Unit for investigation.
On June 6, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Parsons with domestic violence by strangulation.
On June 7, Sheriff’s detectives went to Parson’s residence to arrest him.
He was taken into custody in his driveway and taken to the Sheriff’s Headquarters to be questioned. When he was taken out of the car at headquarters he attempted to flee on foot while handcuffed. After a brief foot chase he was captured and taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he is held with no bond on charges of domestic violence by strangulation and escape.
During the course of this investigation a second adult female victim came forward and reported that she had been sexually assaulted by Parsons while visiting him at his home. This victim reported that she had met him on social media and had begun a dating relationship. While visiting him at his home he sexually assaulted her.
On June 8, Sheriff’s detectives obtained an additional arrest warrant for this case charging Parsons with first degree sodomy.
Parsons remains in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
According to media accounts, Parsons served as a provisional deputy at the Blount County Sheriff’s Office several months ago, but no longer works with the department.
