BIRMINGHAM –Police are looking for a 15-year-old male after he escaped Birmingham police, allegedly stealing a bus, and leading officers on a chase.
Police were alerted to two males with guns in the Lakeview area at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning. When officers arrived they found two people with a pellet gun and a paintball gun.
According to Fox 6, police called the mother of a 15-year-old boy and she refused to come and pick him up. Officers took him to the Juvenile Detention Facility on 2nd Court North and he escaped from outside of that location.
Police said the teenager then took MAX bus from the bus depot on 31st Street North at about 7 a.m. The bus was soon spotted and officers pursued the vehicle, but the teen refused to pull over.
During the chase, the bus struck two police vehicles. The chase was terminated and the abandoned bus was later located at 9th Avenue and 44th Place North. The suspect is still at large, according to police.
