DOCENA — Two men from Docena have been charged in the shooting of two women that took place over the weekend, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. The women suffered non-life threatening injuries.
On Feb. 10, deputies responded to a shooting at the 100 block of 3rd Street in Docena. When they arrived, the victims were not present at the scene. One of them had been transported by a private car from Wylam to a hospital. The other victim came back to the scene and was then taken to a hospital.
Deputies learned that the two were riding in a car through the neighborhood with man, who is the boyfriend of one of the victims. The man was involved in a dispute with James Sinclair, 21, who was in the neighborhood with Tonio Givens, 20. They opened fire on the car, wounding the two women.
Sinclair was arrested at the scene. According to deputies, he and Givens believed that the man in the car was there to harm them. Sinclair was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he remains on a $150,000 bond.
Givens is still at large. Both have been charged with two counts of attempted murder.
