St. Clair County rising senior wide receiver Ja’Varrius Johnson has left the Fighting Saints football team and appears set to play for Hewitt-Trussville next season. St. Clair County head football coach Matt Glover confirmed the information to The Trussville Tribune on Monday.
Johnson withdrew from SCCHS on Monday. A trainer at HTHS called a trainer at St. Clair County that day inquiring about a previous knee injury because he is in a physical education class at Hewitt-Trussville.
Johnson, a 5-foot-9, 157-pound receiver on offensive who also plays cornerback, already holds offers from UAB, Troy and Jackson State.
Florence running back Armoni Goodwin, a standout freshman running back who ripped Hewitt-Trussville for nearly 400 yards in a game last season, has already enrolled at Hewitt.
