From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued a special weather statement Tuesday advising that a light wintry mix is possible in several counties, including Jefferson and St. Clair, across central Alabama though 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.
According to the statement a light mixture of rain, freezing rain, and ice pellets are possible after midnight. This light wintry mix will remain in the forecast through around 9 a.m.
There will be a large variability in surface temperatures across north central Alabama overnight. Some places may briefly dip to near 30 degrees, while others will remain above freezing the entire time. Additionally, precipitation will not even reach the ground at all locations, but some will receive light amounts.
As a result, there may be a few slick spots on elevated surfaces in the morning. These conditions will not be widespread, and an upgrade to an advisory is not anticipated at this time. Light rain should be the dominant precipitation type.
