Former Hewitt-Trussville standout Jarrion Street has decided to transfer from Ole Miss in the wake of the NCAA’s postseason bowl ban beyond the 2017 season for the Rebels.
Street, a 6-foot-1, 210-pounder played in each of the past two seasons on the defensive side of the ball after arriving as part of Ole Miss’ No. 5 ranked 2016 recruiting class.
Street also hopes to find a school that will let him move back to running back, where he starred at Hewitt-Trussville.
“I’m looking for a system that will better allow me to showcase my talents as a running back,” Street told 247Sports.
“Like a lot of my teammates, I am massively disappointed about what has happened here at Ole Miss.”
Due to NCAA penalties, all rising seniors at Ole Miss can transfer freely and be immediately eligible to play. Street and the rest of the members of the 2016 class must apply for an NCAA waiver to allow for immediate eligibility.
According to 247Sports, Street has obtained the services of attorney Tom Mars, the same attorney that represented Houston Nutt in his lawsuit against Ole Miss. Mars is also assisting safety Deontay Anderson in the same capacity.
Street has already received his “permission to contact” form and has informed head coach Matt Luke of his intention to transfer, 247Sports reported.
Street played in eight games in 2017 and recorded 10 tackles. He also recorded three tackles in six games as a true freshman. He was ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 37 running back in the country according to the 247Sports Composite rankings out of Hewitt-Trussville.
