From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — Trussville’s annual Christmas parade presented by Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) will take place on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m. through historic downtown Trussville, according to a release. The parade’s presenting sponsor is Amerex Corporation.
This year’s grand marshals will be the state champion Hewitt-Trussville Mountain Bike Team.
Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated floats. First, second, and third-place entries will receive $100, $75, and $50 respectively and will be recognized at the Chamber’s December luncheon. The float competition is sponsored by Brik Realty.
Santa will be a much-anticipated personality at the end of the parade; entries are not allowed to include Santa. The forecast calls for a 100% chance of ‘snow’ sponsored by Trussville Gas & Water.
The day’s festivities will conclude with the city’s annual Christmas tree lighting at West Mall immediately following the parade. Hot chocolate will be provided by Stage Sponsor Bryant Bank, and parade-goers will also enjoy live entertainment.
The Zamora Shriners, always a special part of the parade, will again be featured. Central Alabama’s Temple of Shriners International, the Zamora Shriners are a Masonic fraternity based on fun, fellowship and helping children.
Other Christmas parade sponsors are the City of Trussville; A+ Tire & Auto Repair (grand marshal sponsor); and silver sponsors Trinity Contractors, Image Craft, St. Vincent’s East, HESCO Automotive, and Stewart Facility Services.
