TRUSSVILLE –The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a tornado watch for north central Alabama, including Jefferson and St. Clair counties, until 10 a.m. Wednesday.
This storm system has produced numerous damage causing tornadoes in north Alabama. Three fatalities in Jackson County and additional serious injuries elsewhere in north Alabama have been reported.
At 3:45 a.m., NWS issued the following statement, “While the tornado threat has become more limited and isolated, it still remains. Finally starting to see storms progress to the SE. Tornado watch is cancelled for Marion/Lamar counties, continues elsewhere.”
At 5:13 a.m., NWS issued the following statement, “Severe threat continues within the Tornado Watch area.”
At 8:30 a.m., NWS issued the following statement, “Line of heavy rain/storms about to enter #Bham metro. Drive carefully! Line of storms stretches from Just W of #Bham to just E of #Demopolis. Strong winds of 40 mph possible with the line.”
