Leeds Arts Council to honor visual artists

LEEDS – The Leeds Arts Council has a number of events coming up on its November calendar.

The council will honor the Leeds Area Visual Artists (LAVA) with an opening reception on November 6 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Leeds Theatre and Arts Center. The public can meet the artists while enjoying their works. Additional art work, prints, cards and books will be on display during the reception. There is no admission fee.

William Darby, Frank Dawson, Joan Dawson, Elizabeth Gregory, Jonathan Harris, Tina Miller, Gudrun Rominger, Tanna Rose, Grady Sue Saxon, Larry Whisenhunt and Sherry Whisenhunt will all be participating.

Oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media paintings, fabric art, graphite and pastel drawings and photographs will be on display.

Art will be on display through December 1. The gallery will be open Wednesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will also be a seasonal celebration on November 19-20, presented by Leeds Community Chorus and Local Area Choirs.

The event will be at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Leeds First United Methodist Church Family Life Center. Suggested donations are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
