TRUSSVILLE – HTMS 8th grader Hannah Baker will be making her Times Square debut on September 17 as part of the National Down syndrome Society’s (NDSS) annual Times Square Video presentation.
The featured pictures highlight children, teens and adults with Down syndrome. The collective images promote the inclusion of people with Down syndrome, which is the mission of NDSS.
The video presentation kicks off Down Syndrome Awareness Month, which takes place during October. It will be followed by the 22nd Annual Flagship Buddy Walk in New York City.
The Buddy Walk will be held in more than 275 cities nationwide this year, and more than 325,000 people are expected to participate.
The photo of Hannah was selected from more than 2,000 entries in the NDSS worldwide call for photos. Over 400 pictures will appear in the video, which will be shown in Times Square.
Hannah is pictured with her friend, Kari Balazs, who also has Down syndrome, and is a student at Hoover High School. The girls are pictured at their favorite vacation spot, 30A on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
The NDSS is a nonprofit organization with more than 375 affiliates across the country, representing the more than 400,000 Americans with Down syndrome. The mission of NDSS is to be an advocate for the inclusion of people with Down syndrome. Click here for more.
