PINSON – Incumbent mayor of Pinson, Hoyt Sanders, has announced his plan to run for reelection.
“We have made so many positive steps in these 12 years and I hope to see many more in the next 4 years,” Sanders said in a press release.
During his time in office, Sanders has overseen the renovation of the Rock School for use by the Library, which will free up more space in City Hall for law enforcement expansion and other uses.
“The Rock School renovation is a project very dear to the community, and I would be honored to serve as Mayor through its fruition,” Sanders said.

Sanders’ has overseen accomplishments for the city of Pinson such contracting enhanced law enforcement with Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, acquiring the former Carraway Building for City Hall and the Library, contributing to Center Point and Palmerdale Fire Districts, which serve Pinson, starting the Pinson Public Library, constructing Bicentennial Park, acquiring former Pinson Valley Youth Association property to make site improvements, becoming the primary lease-holder for Palmerdale Community Center, purchasing the former Civitan Building and returning it to community uses, supporting schools in Pinson, being commended by outside auditors for strong finances and healthy reserves, paving projects, forming a planning commission, providing community enhancements, supporting the Turkey Creek Nature Preserve and annexing numerous residential and commercial properties.
Sanders is a life-long resident of Pinson and a PVHS Alum. Sanders and his wife, Cande, have been married for 14 years, and are members of First Baptist Pinson. They have two sons, who attend Pinson schools.
