BIRMINGHAM –The Birmingham police are investigating the second homicide of the weekend after officers said an alleged pimp was shot and killed in Woodlawn on Saturday. The homicide is the 48th in Birmingham in 2016.
Lieutenant Sean Edwards reported that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation after the discovery of the man’s body. The incident occurred in the 6100 block of 1st Court North.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notifications.
On Saturday, around 4 p.m., officers from the east precinct responded to the Woodlawn location on a report of a person shot, Edwards said. Upon arrival, officers found the victim (black male, 28) lying on the ground outside of an abandoned building suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
The victim was pronounced deceased by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
Detectives learned the victim was seen earlier in the day with a white female and two black males. According to witnesses, the victim was allegedly the white female’s pimp and they both were known to live in abandoned houses in the neighborhood.
“It is only a matter of time before those responsible are brought to justice,” Edwards said.
