TRUSSVILLE –Unfortunately, weather continues to be one of our ongoing news stories this week.
UPDATE – Trussville, Clay, Pinson and surrounding areas is a flash flood warning for Jefferson County until 7:30 p.m. According to NWS, rains are shifting southward. The rain will linger over our area. With dark approaching, washed out roads will be difficult to see. Please use caution.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has the Tribune coverage area of Jefferson and St. Clair counties inside and area with a limited risk of severe weather on Christmas Day.
Here’s what NWS stated this morning:
As a surface boundary shifts slowly northward this morning, the overall flash flooding threat will shift north as well to generally along and north of an Aliceville to Clanton to Lafayette line for today through at least 6 PM. To the south of here, heavy rains have occurred will keep the areal flooding threat around for at least this morning along with a river flooding threat along portions the Tallapoosa and Alabama river basins. A secondary threat will be that of a limited severe weather threat generally along and north of Interstate 59 from early morning and lasting through around 6 PM with storms along and ahead of a front. The main threat will be straight line gusty winds with a lesser hail threat. The tornado threat is there and is low but not zero.
Temperatures will be unseasonably warm with highs from the middle 70s to near 80 degrees. Rain chances continue into tonight but will decrease some. The severe and flooding threat also go down as we head into this evening. Overnight lows will remain mild in the 60s.
