TRUSSVILLE — Two suspects are in custody of the Trussville Police Department after a late-night police chase on Tuesday. The suspects Michael Valentine Sanders, 41, of Birmingham, and Latasha Lashun James, 39, of Birmingham, allegedly robbed the Chevron located at 5981 Chalkville Mountain Road and then led police on a short chase.
The chase ended when the beige 2001 Pontiac Grand Am the suspects were in crashed at Guitar FX near Main Street in Trussville.
Employees at the Chevron actually hit the silent alarm as the suspects were getting out of their vehicle.
“Before anything happened, they saw them getting out of their car and knew something was up,” Captain Jeff Bridges of the Trussville Police Department said. “Our officers saw them coming down Chalkville Road and initiated a traffic stop.”
The suspects are expected to be charged with attempting to elude. along with the robbery and theft of property charges.
According to police records, around $800 was stolen.
