TUSCALOOSA –The University of Alabama police department issued a statement on Sunday detailing a sexual assault of a female student.
According to the statement, the incident took place at 3:15 a.m. Sunday and was reported at 1:47 p.m.
Officers said the female victim told them she was walking in the 800 block area of Magnolia Drive when she was approached by a car.
The driver told her that he was part of a church organization that provided sober rides for people. She accepted the ride from a white male in his early 20s, driving a white SUV believed to be a model from between 2008 and 2015.
When they arrived at the destination, the driver restricted her from getting out of the vehicle and sexually assaulted her by force.
The victim was able to stop the assault and flee the vehicle.
The suspect has brown hair and brown eyes with an average build. He is six feet tall and weighs 185 lbs.
