CENTER POINT – Shots were fired in Center Point on Saturday, leaving one 24-year-old victim dead at the scene.
Authorities responded to the situation, which took place in the 300 block of 18th Court NW in Center Point, around 9:30 a.m. to find Mylira Elizabeth Generette dead upon arrival.
According to the investigation, Generette had been staying at the residence with a friend. She was watching her friend’s four children on the morning of the crime when the father of the children came to the residence.
The 32-year-old father got in an altercation with Generette before walking to his car and returning to the home with a handgun, which he shot her with.
After the suspect fled the scene, a 13-year-old child alerted authorities. The suspect—Jason Jones—was later detained in the 1300 block of 5th Place NW in Center Point, and is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
Detectives obtained a warrant on Monday, charging Jones with Capital Murder.
